Open mouth, insert foot? Yup, managed to completely embarrass myself and insult the woman we were sitting with at a bridal shower today. My friend and I wrote “it’s ok to go to bed angry, even if everyone tells you not to,” on the advice card. (And loudly proclaim that we hate when people say that. Sometimes you just need to go to sleep and deal with it in the morning.) Only to then find out that the woman across from us, of course, wrote “never go to bed angry,” when they read her advice card out loud to the entire room. She then turned to us and proceeded to say, “I just never do, it’s not worth it.”

Whoops.

At least my shoes are cute.

I had a mini breakdown on Tuesday at work. Overload, I assume. Traveling for work, a very busy weekend, and some emails that made me want to punch the screen added up to some crying at my desk and a phone call to my mother. No shame. I should have taken a mental health day, (we all need them every now and then) but instead I’m powering through the rest of the week and really looking forward to the weekend.

This beautiful 77 degree day ain’t too shabby either.

I finally got around to some spring cleaning last night and swapped my wardrobe, something I never used to do. Yay for two closets!

I have to say, doing the swap was kind of depressing though. I realized I haven’t bought much quality over the past few years and it was pretty obvious. Quite a few items went into the donate pile and there wasn’t too much left, especially when it comes to work attire. I have very few dresses to wear. I guess that’s next.

I was happy to add a few new staples that I recently purchased from old navy. Floral shorts, a polka dot tank, and a striped tee.

I guess I’ll be wearing prints this summer.

Ingredients

3-4 Strawberries
3 1/2 Oz. Champagne Or Sparkling Wine
3 1/2 Oz. Orange Juice

Directions

Mix orange juice and strawberries with a little shaved ice in a blender until smooth.
Pour into a chilled wine goblet and add cold champagne. Stir gently so as not to lose the bubbles.

Today was the first time I stepped outside since Wednesday.

I woke up the past four mornings around 5:30 am and did not return to my hotel room until 8:30 pm.

I ate a disgusting amount of conference food and caffeine to power through.

I was asked to make some last minute changes and sprinted across the convention center on more than one occasion.

I wrote an absurd amount of notes and now have a ton of work to do when I go back.

But I was part of conversations that I know will be pivotal in moving my organization forward. I was thanked more times than I can count and have felt very proud of the work I’ve done. I’ve had some conversations with people that live truly amazing lives and do incredible work. I had the pleasure of getting to know colleagues I don’t get a chance to talk to often and I spent an insane amount of time with my amazing boss, (who works remotely from boston) and was reminded how much I love my job because of her.

And thankfully, because of all these great people, I laughed my ass off. Every day.

It was a tiring few days but as always, extremely rewarding.

And now, I’m so happy to be home.

is apparently the title of the game we’ll be playing at one of my best friends upcoming bridal shower, according to the email I received from my friend’s mother. As if bridal showers aren’t already kind of the worst to begin with, lets throw in a game that will most likely embarrass my good friend, myself or both. Awesome idea.

I was told I need to come prepared with a statement that obviously starts with “I remember when.”

I remember when we spent a night in atlantic city, drank and danced too much, had an incident involving room service that was not ours and another in which one of us thought the hallway was the bathroom.

Do you think that’s what her mother had in mind?

I hope there’s a lot of booze at this shower.

Off to Dallas next week for a business trip and the pictures of the place we’re staying look incredible. They even have a lazy river for goodness sakes.

The staff schedule was emailed out yesterday and I’m pretty much working from sun up to sun down and then some. But I’m determined to make time for the lazy river, even if it kills me.

this weekend was for embarrassing my husband with two of the cutest baby photos of him ever. i just had to!

(post them on instagram for the world to see. sorry babe.)

we’ve been together for almost ten years, and besides a few newborn photos and one shot of him when he was about three, i’ve never seen any other photos of him as a baby.

so after dinner at my in laws on saturday, i asked to see some photos and my mother in law happily obliged.

Below, two new make-up finds I’ve stumbled across lately that have totally changed my make-up routine.

This eyebrow tutorial from Pinterest easily shows in 11 steps that I’ve been filling in my eyebrows completely wrong for the past year or so. I don’t get all fancy with the under eyebrow highlighter and mostly stick to steps 1,2,3 and 6 but it’s a total game changer.

This paint pot by mac works wonders on your eyelids. My brother’s girlfriend who is a makeup artist at mac forced me to get this and I’m really glad she did.

You apply a small amount to your eyelids before applying eyeshadow and it reduces the amount of eyeshadow you’ll need and helps it from creasing like crazy throughout the day. Now I look like I just did my makeup when I head out for happy hour instead of looking like my usual “I just worked all day, leave me alone, I need a drink” self.
